Common questions about appliance repair training
Do I need experience?
No. The appliance repair training starts from zero. You learn how electricity works, how to read a diagram and how to use a multimeter before you touch any appliance. Students come from delivery, warehouse work, driving and construction.
How long does it take?
One to three months. Most people finish the appliance repair training in that time. You study at your own speed, so it depends on how many hours a week you can give it.
Can I study while I work?
Yes. Everything is online and there are no fixed class times. Most students keep their current job while they learn.
How much does it cost?
$2,100 in total. You can pay $700 a month for three months, or pay it all at once for $1,800 and save $300.
Will I get work after?
Home Alliance runs its own marketing for appliance repair in 20+ states and sends that work to technicians in our network. You also get help with your resume and interviews, or with setting up your own business if you prefer.
What happens if I get stuck on a repair?
For one year after you finish, you can send a photo or a video to our support chat. A professional technician looks at it and tells you what to check.
What certifications do I get?

Appliance repair is a trade you can learn in months, not years
Most careers worth having ask for two or four years and a lot of debt before you earn anything. Appliance repair training does not. The skills are specific, teachable, and testable — and the work exists in every city, because every home has a fridge, a washer, and an oven that eventually stop working.
The earning ceiling is what pulls most people in. A skilled technician with steady work can bill $10,000 or more in a month once they have a customer base — and unlike hourly work, that number is set by your skill and your rates, not by a manager.*
It is also work that cannot be outsourced or automated. Somebody has to physically open the machine, read the fault, and fix it. That is why an appliance repair technician who is genuinely good at diagnostics stays busy regardless of what the economy is doing.
You do not need a background in the trades. Our appliance repair training starts at the beginning: how electricity behaves, how to read a wiring diagram, how to use a multimeter without guessing. Everything after that builds on those three things.

Work on a virtual machine in a virtual kitchen: open panels, set the control dials, take readings with the toolbox and swap components, then run it to see whether the fault is cleared. Assessment Mode gives you a fault and no instructions, which is how you find out whether the method has stuck.
